Additional Comments
ICU has taken on a large number of medical-surgical and telemetry patients in order to keep the units balanced since we do comply with minimum staffing levels of 2 RN's on the ICU. This sometimes allows for a 3:1 ratio instead of the budgeted 2:1 ratio as each nurse truely has 3 med-surg patients. Admissions with psychological issues have increased which does at times require 1:1 for safety monitoring.
